Dandelions=Allergic Conjunctivitis/Chemosis

Oh my cute little boys decided to bring in a handful each of these "beautiful flowers" for their mommy! I was soo excited and thought how sweet are my boys!

I rinsed a vegetable can and placed them inside and 5 minutes later this is what my eye looked like!! I noticed that my eye was blurry and my nose was dripping and so I thought oh just my allergies until I looked in the mirror. I ran to the cell phone and called Brian and said my eye is swelling so much I can't close it! I was getting anxious b/c in 3 hours I was headed to my cousin's graduation and we were hours from home. Thankfully Brian was able to get a prescription of Lotemax.
I did Lotemax every 15 minutes until the swelling was gone! As you can tell I LOVE MY OPTOMETRIST!

Here is Brian's diagnosis:

Allergic Conjunctivitis with grade 4 Chemosis

I had extensive swelling of the conjunctiva (clear membrane that covers the white part of the eye). The bubbled part is the swollen membrane.

Moral of the story is I won't be touching dandelions ever again! :)

Wow! That is what DJ has right now. Just got it tonight...Ask Dr. Carpenter if it will go away on it's own. He took some benadryl and is hoping to wake up in the morning with a better eye. His is bad but man....your's is a whole different level! Leave it to you to raise the allergy bar =D.

Glad you are doing better.

Good thing you married a good eye doc, which reminds me...I need to make an appointment with him :)

A good eye doctor would have foreseen this event and stabilized those mast cells before they released all that histamine causing that inflammation. Your eye doctor sounds like a wimp and a commie and probably watches Glee! But whatever.

Yikes! That does not look good. Thanks so much for stopping by twelve crafts and commenting on the gum making post. I hope you have a chance to try it. I know your boys would LOVE it! Fun, simple and educational all at the same time. What could be better? Love your blog button. Would like to ask you a few questions about it, but couldn't find a contact e-mail on your blog.

Holey moley - thanks for this. Thought I was about to go blind. I have had the worst bout of seasonal allergies for 5 weeks. Tonight I was vacuuming, rubbed my eye, and poof - My eye looks exactly like yours. It hurts...plan to see my eye doc tomorrow but at least in the mean time I won't think I'm going blind.

This is nothing anyone can foresee!! It happened in an instant.
